US Department of Labor, state and national brewers align to educate New York employers, protect industry workers

Description: OSHA and three trade organizations have formed a two-year alliance to provide New York’s brewing industry with information, guidance and access to training resources to help them protect the safety and health of workers. The effort will seek to prevent and reduce exposure to hazards during brewing, storing, containerizing, handling and delivery of beer to final locations, and promote understanding of workers’ rights and employers’ responsibilities under the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
Duration: The agreement will expire Nov. 9, 2024.
Background: The organizations will use relevant injury, illness and hazard exposure data to identify areas of emphasis for alliance awareness, outreach and communication activities. The alliance will also explore and implement options to evaluate its effectiveness and measure its impact on improving workplace safety and health for the craft brewing industry’s workers and employers. The alliance recognizes that OSHA’s On-site Consultation Program partners are an integral part of OSHA’s national effort to ensure employers provide a safe and healthy workplace and that information gathered in the alliance’s products and activities may be shared with these partners to advance common goals.
