US Department of Labor renews ‘Star Level’ designation of Raytheon Global Headquarters for workplace safety, health achievements

Headquarters location maintains safety distinction since 2018

Participant:   Raytheon Global Headquarters, Waltham, Massachusetts

Description:   Raytheon Global Headquarters employs about 350 workers at the Waltham site, which is the headquarters for Raytheon, a company involved in advancing aviation, space exploration and defense. Employees at the site perform office functions, provide technical expertise, conduct shipping and receiving and ensure facility operations.

Duration:       OSHA first recognized Raytheon Global Headquarters in 2018 as a “star” site – the highest level of recognition that the agency’s Voluntary Protection Programs offers. The facility earned its latest VPP star renewal following an onsite evaluation in January 2022 by a team of OSHA safety and health experts.

Background:  OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Programs recognize and promote effective worksite-based safety and health management systems. In the VPP, management, labor and OSHA establish cooperative relationships at workplaces that have implemented comprehensive safety and health management systems. Approval into VPP is OSHA’s official recognition of the outstanding efforts of employers and employees who have created exemplary worksite safety and health management systems.

Quote:            Raytheon Global Headquarters is committed to excellence in workplace safety and health,” said OSHA Regional Administrator Galen Blanton in Boston. “Raytheon is keenly aware of the benefits of protecting its workers. Since its initial approval it has especially focused on limiting ergonomic hazards of office environments, even for remote workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
