Assistance available for current, former nuclear weapons workers
and uranium miners in Northwest New Mexico

US Labor Department will provide information, claims assistance for medical benefits

Event: U.S. Department of Labor representatives will host outreach sessions in New Mexico — in Farmington on Dec. 8 and in Grants on Dec. 9 — to assist current and former nuclear weapons workers and uranium miners in the state. Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Denver District Office staff will provide information about the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act and the medical benefits available under the program. After the presentations, district office and Espanola Resource Center staff will be available to help individuals file new claims and provide claimants with status updates on their existing claims.

About EEOICPA:

The EEOICPA provides compensation and medical benefits to employees whose work in the nuclear weapons industry made them ill. Survivors of qualified workers may also be entitled to benefits. To date, $1.5 billion in EEOICPA compensation and medical benefits has been paid to 13,302 New Mexico claimants, while more than $11.9 billion has been paid nationwide.
