GREENVILLE, IL – Federal workplace safety inspectors found a Fairmont City roofing contractor continuing to endanger employees to deadly fall hazards by not providing them fall protection, as required by federal law.

LAMESA, TX – A federal workplace safety inspection at another Dollar General store, this time in Lamesa, found exit routes and walkways blocked and merchandise unsafely stacked, conditions that exposed employees and others to fire hazards and struck-by injuries that have been common cause for violations at the company’s stores across the country.

WATERLOO, IL ‒ A Breese contractor who ignored a city engineer’s repeated verbal and written instructions to use trench cave-in protection faces penalties after federal workplace safety inspectors found the employer failed to protect workers installing storm sewer lines from potentially deadly trench cave-ins on a least five occasions.

DEDEDO, GUAM – The U.S. Department of Labor will send experts from its Occupational Safety and Health Administration to areas of Guam hardest hit by Typhoon Mawar to protect the safety and health of recovery workers as part of the federal response and recovery effort after the storm struck the island in late May.

HARTSHORNE, OK – When federal workplace safety investigators opened inspections in December 2022 at two Dollar General stores in southeast Oklahoma, they found blocked exit routes and walkways exposing employees to fire hazards, the same types of violations investigators discovered in stores across the nation operated by the national discount retailer.

COLUMBUS, OH ‒ A Columbus children’s hospital failed to protect employees — including nurses and mental health professionals — from patients whose bites, kicks, punches and other assaults caused serious injuries, a U.S. Department of Labor investigation has found.

WASHINGTON – Unsafe conditions typically found by federal workplace safety inspectors at discount stores operated by Dollar General Corp. and Dolgencorp LLC nationwide were on display again during U.S. Department of Labor inspections at nine locations in Maine, North Dakota, Ohio and Wisconsin in late 2022.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the availability of more than $12.7 million in funding to make more good jobs available to the U.S. workforce by supporting training initiatives designed to promote safety and health in the nation’s workplaces.

KENTON, OH ‒ In certain concentrations, flammable vapors can ignite, leading to powerful explosions and leaving workers seriously injured or worse. For workers manufacturing plastic resin, the high heat used in the production process increases the risks.

BURLINGTON, NJ – An employee’s first day of work at a southern New Jersey manufacturing facility ended tragically when he suffered the amputation of three fingers while operating a press brake without required safety guards, similar to violations cited by federal safety investigators at the facility in 2010 and 2015.

DENVER – When federal workplace safety inspectors opened an investigation in March 2023 of an excavation worksite in Fort Collins, they determined GoldStar Excavation and Sewer was still ignoring the same federal safety standards that could have prevented a trench collapse in Greeley in the summer of 2022 that led to the death of a teenaged company employee.
