The U.S. Department of Labor filed a lawsuit in Chicago, Ill., against Lexington Securities, Incorporated, and its plan fiduciary Paul Maton for withholding $12,608.65 of voluntary employee plan contributions in violation of the federal pension law. The Lexington Savings Incentive Plan was established on Feb. 1, 1995, as a cash or deferred profit sharing plan.

The owner of the Dallas-based firm ISG State Operations, Inc. was indicted today by a Dallas County grand jury for allegedly misappropriating $6,933 in 401(k) contributions owed to the company's retirement plan.

The company processed Medicaid claims under a contract with the State of Texas and sponsored the ISG State Operations, Inc. 401(k) plan. The 401(k) plan is governed by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA).

ESA Press Release: Utah Grocery Chain Has Agreed to Pay $650,000 Fine for Child Labor Violations [11/09/1998]

A Utah-based grocery chain with 172 stores in eight states will pay $650,000 in fines for violations of federal child labor laws. Smith's Food and Drug Centers of Salt Lake City agreed to pay the fine and refrain from future violations.

An Ohio fast food restaurant company was fined $333,450 for violations of federal child labor laws after a 15-year-old cut her finger while using a meat slicer. The Labor Department found that GZK Inc. of Dayton illegally employed 42 minors.

The U. S. Department of Labor today sued Time Warner Inc., Time Inc. and subsidiaries of Time Inc. and officials of nine corporate pension and health plans for wrongly denying coverage by the plans to hundreds of employees. The workers were misclassified as independent contractors or temporary employees and thus were denied coverage.
