WASHINGTON, DC - The U.S. Department of Labor’s Veterans Employment and Training Services (VETS) has released a fact sheet to help employers better understand their responsibilities toward reemployed service members under the pension provisions of the Uniform Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) and related regulations.

U.S. Department of Labor Announces Award of $48.1 Million In Grants for Workforce Reintegration of Homeless Veterans

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Secretary of Labor Alexander Acosta today announced the awarding of 149 Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program (HVRP) grants totaling $48.1 million. This funding will provide workforce reintegration services for more than 18,000 homeless veterans.

U.S. Department of Labor Announces Funding for Cooperative Agreements to Assist Veterans and Transitioning Servicemembers Attain Occupational Licenses

WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Department of Labor has announced the availability of up to $2.5 million for cooperative agreements with partnerships that will work to increase and expedite attainment of state occupational licenses by veterans and transitioning servicemembers. Through this funding opportunity, the Department expects to award one to three cooperative agreements for between $750,000 and $2,500,000; and the projects will have a three-year period of performance.

The award recognizes employers ranging from small businesses, non-profit organizations, and large businesses for their leadership in recruiting, employing, and retaining America's veterans.

U.S. Department of Labor Announces Award of $47,600,000 In Training Grants to Help Homeless Veterans Re-enter the Workforce

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Secretary of Labor Alexander Acosta announced the award of 163 Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program (HVRP) grants totaling $47,600,000. This funding will provide workforce reintegration services to more than 18,000 homeless veterans.

"While serving in the military, veterans learn many skills desired in today's workforce," said Secretary Acosta. "These grants will help thousands of homeless veterans reintegrate themselves into society and secure good jobs."

HIRE Vets Medallion Program Demonstration Completes Application Goal

WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Department of Labor announced today that the HIRE Vets Medallion Program Demonstration has reached its application goal, and the registration period is now closed. This November, the Department will recognize employers who qualified for the HIRE Vets Medallion Program Demonstration Award.

The program demonstration enabled up to 300 employers to apply and prepare those who registered for an account on the HIREVets.gov website.

US Department of Labor awards $43.3M in grants to provide employer-driven training, support reintegration of homeless veterans

WASHINGTON – U.S. Secretary of Labor Alexander Acosta today announced the award of $43.3 million in grants through the U.S. Department of Labor’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service to provide training to an estimated 21,000 homeless veterans to help them reintegrate into the American workforce. In all, the department’s 2017 award will fund 155 grants in its Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program.

$36 million in job training grants will help more than 17,000 veterans overcome homelessness, secure meaningful employment

WASHINGTON U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez announced the award of $36 million in Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program grants today to help an estimated 17,000 veterans successfully transition to sustainable housing and good civilian jobs. The grants will fund a variety of services to assist homeless veterans in their return to the labor force including occupational, classroom and on-the-job training, as well as job search and placement assistance.

VETS News Release: Grants to help once incarcerated veterans return to work, avoid homelessness [09/29/2015]

WASHINGTON — Supporting the President's goal to eliminate homelessness among U.S. military veterans, the U.S. Department of Labor's Veterans' Employment and Training Service today announced the award of $1.5 million in grants to help once incarcerated veterans considered "at risk" of becoming homeless. In all, seven grants will serve more than 650 formerly incarcerated veterans in six states.
