US Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division establishes district office in Austin, Texas

AUSTIN, Texas — A newly upgraded Wage and Hour Division district office has opened in Austin to connect employees, employers, community organizations and other stakeholders with resources and assistance to ensure compliance with federal wage and hour laws. The district office is located in the J.J. Pickle Federal Building at 300 E. 8th St., Suite 865, Austin, 78701.

"The new Austin District Office will benefit the residents and community organizations of one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the nation by putting them much closer to assistance," said Cynthia Watson, regional administrator for the Wage and Hour Division in the Southwest. "Enhancing this office will enable it to serve as a great one-stop resource for compliance assistance and information concerning the federal labor laws we enforce."

The Wage and Hour Division's Austin District Office has oversight for agency enforcement throughout the greater Central Texas Area. The upgraded and restructured office will service residents and a number of community and trade organizations with offices in the Austin metropolitan area and the counties serviced by the San Angelo, Waco and Temple field offices.

To receive wage and hour-related information, file a complaint or ask questions about federal wage laws, individuals and businesses should contact the Wage and Hour Division, which administers the Fair Labor Standards Act, including child labor regulations, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Davis-Bacon Act, the Service Contract Act and the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act.
