Labor Department Co-Hosts Sixth Annual Employee Benefit Outreach Program

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration (PWBA), in conjunction with the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP), will conduct a series of one-day workshops in 10 cities that will offer employee benefit plan professionals an extensive overview of the Form 5500 and new electronic processing requirements.

The programs will be conducted between May 1 and June 23, and are designed to educate plan professionals on the ERISA Filing Acceptance System (EFAST), electronic filing, major revisions to the Form 5500 and the revised reporting regulations.

The educational programs provide an effective way for PWBA to inform service providers and plan administrators about the agency’s reporting and compliance requirements for the new Form 5500 annual reports.

Day-long programs will be held in Denver, May 1; Phoenix, May 2; Dallas, May 4; Chicago, May 16; St. Louis, May 17; Minneapolis, May 19; Boston, June 14; Greensboro, N. C., June 19; Orlando, June 21 and Philadelphia, June 23.

PWBA speakers are senior officials from the divisions of accounting services and reporting compliance in the Office of the Chief Accountant.

The IFEBP has been recognized since 1954 as the foremost educational organization in the employee benefits field. It offers continuing education creditor insurance agents, attorneys and financial planners and enrolled actuaries.
