TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT NOTICE NO. 1-22 DATE July 20 2022 EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING ADMINISTRATION U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR WASHINGTON D.C. 20210 TO STATE WORKFORCE AGENCIES FROM BRENT PARTON Acting Assistant Secretary SUBJECT Adjudications Virtual Training and Conference 1. Purpose. To inform states that the Adjudications Past Present and Future Virtual Training and Conference is scheduled to be held August 23-25 2022 from 1pm to 5pm EDT and to encourage states to have adjudicators and other unemployment insurance UI benefits staff participate in the conference. 2. Action Requested. State Administrators are requested to provide this information toa ppropriate staff and encourage participation. 3. Summary and Background.a.Summ ary This notice announces the availability of adjudication training that will be conducted virtually August 23-25 2022. b. Background - The Adjudi cations Past Present and Future Virtual Training and Conference will provide an opportunity for adjudicators and state UI benefits staff to hear from Department of Labor officials on national UI initiatives and participate in adjudication training workshops. The last adjudication forum hosted by the Employment and Training Administration ETA was held in April 2009 in Portland OR. In July 2015 Training and Employment Notice TEN 3-15 Reengineering Unemployment Insurance UI Benefits Program Accountability Processes Update on Implementation Progress and State Impacts announced ETA s efforts to reengineer UI benefits program accountability processes to improve program performance and integrity. ETA s commitment to provide state training and technical assistance is a key element in the reengineering process. The target audience for the training conference is state adjudication staff along with adjudication supervisors UI benefits managers and other key UI benefits staff. Topics and issues presented by state UI experts will include effective fact-finding listening techniques controlling the interview adjudication basics and critical thinking. In addition states will share best practices regarding tools created to monitor and improve timeliness and to utilize the results of in-house and quarterly Benefits 2 Timeliness and Quality BTQ nonmonetary determinations reviews to help improve state performance. 4.Logistics.
