Background.While this edition of the Training and Employment Report of the Secretary of Labor examines activities of the Department's Employment and Training Administration during Program Years 1993 and 1994 July 1993 through June 1995 and Fiscal Years 1994 and 1995 October 1993 through September 1995 the program descriptions and summaries of findings of research and evaluation studies contained in the document have considerable value. Chapter 1 of the Report covers developments in employment and training programs. Major activities discussed are JTPA programs Apprenticeship the Senior Community Service Employment Program Trade Adjustment Assistance NAFTA-Transitional Adjustment Assistance the Labor Surplus Areas Program the National Commission For Employment Policy and the National Occupational Information Coordinating Committee. Chapter 2 of the Report covers significant research and evaluation findings with focus upon specific groups such as farmers and ranchers school-to-work and immigrants. Special areas on dislocated workers as entrepreneurs and early interventions are highlighted with extensive coverage of UI alternatives.
