EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING ADMINISTRATION U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR WASHINGTON D.C. 20210 TO STATE WORKFORCE AGENCIES FROM PORTIA WU s Assistant Secretary SUBJECT 2015 Unemployment Insurance UI Integrity Technology Symposium 1. Purpose. To announce the 2015 UI Integrity Technology Symposium being held on September 1-2 2015 in Washington D.C. 2. Background. The U.S. Department of Labor s Employment and Training Administration ETA is sponsoring in collaboration with the UI Integrity Center of Excellence Integrity Center the 2015 UI Integrity Technology Symposium. The two-day Symposium is a new integrity technology information sharing forum where states and vendors with the latest software and analytic tools dedicated to identifying and preventing potential overpayments and fraud will demonstrate and discuss solutions that have been implemented and are proving to be successful. The Symposium will also explore promising practices in the use of information technology to reduce overpayments fraud risk and increase the rate of overpayment recovery. The agenda is designed to educate and inform attendees about new information technology tools and to promote successful practices and management strategies in preventing and reducing improper payments and fraud. The Symposium will provide attendees the opportunity to hear from private entities other Federal agencies and ETA officials. The Symposium will also allow for participation in a series of workshop sessions featuring states technology efforts in this arena. The target audience is UI Directors Benefit Payment Control Managers UI Benefit Managers state information technology staff and other appropriate staff as determined by the states. 3. Conference Location. The 2015 UI Integrity Technology Symposium will be held on September 1-2 2015 at the Hyatt Regency 400 New Jersey Avenue N.W. Washington D.C. 20001. 4. Travel Costs. ETA recognizes that state efforts are critical in reducing improper payments and fraud in the federal-state UI program and encourages state participation in this Symposium by providing a process to assist states with travel costs to attend this event. The Integrity Center through a sub-contract with the National Association of State Workforce Agencies NASWA will provide up to 4 000 to each participating state total to help cover travel costs for up to three participants. Allowable travel costs include transportation hotel lodging per diem costs consistent with the General Services Administration schedule TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT NOTICE NO. 2-15 DATE July 17 2015 2 or states out-of-state per diem requirements whichever is less and minor incidental costs like parking. After the Symposium NASWA will issue a reimbursement check to each of the participating states upon receipt of an invoice for travel costs incurred by the state. The invoice to NASWA should include the name of the attendees travel expenses and copies of all corresponding receipts to support the reimbursement. The invoice and documentation along with mailing instructions for the check must be submitted to NASWA Attn 2015 UI Symposium Reimbursement at 444 North Capitol N.W. Suite 142 Washington D.C. 20001. Attending states should submit their invoice no later than December 31 2015. Invoices submitted after December 31 2015 will not be honored. 5. Conference Registration. There is no registration fee to attend the Symposium. However registration is required and can be completed at www.naswa.org meetings 2015uisymposium . 6. Hotel Information and Reservations. Hotel accommodations may be arranged with the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill 400 New Jersey Avenue N.W. Washington D.C. 20001. A block of rooms has been held under the name UI Integrity Technology Symposium at the average nightly rate of 165 plus 14.5 percent tax. The special room rates are available three days before or after the conference dates depending on availability. States will only be reimbursed for stays on the nights of August 31 through September 2. Reservations must be made by Monday August 3 2015 to obtain a room at the conference rate. Cancellations can be made up to 48 hours by 3 00 p.m. prior to your arrival. Guests that cancel after the deadline or no shows will be charged one 1 night s room and tax by the hotel. These charges will not be reimbursed by ETA or the Integrity Center. Attendees may make reservations at https resweb.passkey.com go CESER2015 or by calling the Reservations Department 1- 888-421-1442 and mentioning the room block name of UI Integrity Technology Symposium. 7. Additional Information. Attendees should be aware that meals and beverages will not be provided at the event and plan accordingly. A complete list of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel will be posted to the symposium s website. 8. Action Requested. State Administrators are encouraged to share this information with appropriate staff and are encouraged to authorize staff to attend and or present at the symposium. 9. Inquiries.
