Purpose . To provide information to the workforce investment system on the approximate schedule for the next YouthBuild competition. 2. Background . In Fiscal Year 2010 ETA received an appropriation of 102 500 000 for the YouthBuild program. After funding the five percent required technic al assistance set-aside or 5 125 000 and second-year continuation funding to FY 2009 and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 ARRA grantees the remaining balance of approximately 30 million will be used for a new Yo uthBuild competition. 3. Timeline . It is anticipated that the competition for the remaining FY 2010 appropriation will be announced this summer with awards made in late fal l. The Department anticipates making approximately 28 grants. This will be a full and open competition however those grantees who were awarded YouthBuild grants in July 2009 are not eligible to apply. The upcoming solicitation will pro vide specific details on eligibility. 4. Additional Resources . Prospective applicants are encouraged to go to www.doleta.gov to access the web-based tool kit Applying for ETA Competitive Grants. Prospective applicants may also want to visit www.grants.gov to sign up for either e-mail alerts or RSS Really Simple Syndication feeds for automatic notification about not only upcoming YouthBuild competitions but other f unding opportunities from various government agencies. 5. Actions Requested . States are requested to share this Training and Employment Notice with local areas. 6. Inquiries .
