To announce the release and availability of the final report from the evaluation of the Jobs Innovation and Accelerator Challenge Grants JIAC . 2.A ction Requested. This notice is for informational purposes. 3.Summary and Background. a.Summar y The report provides insight into how regional innovation clusters might serve as tools to stimulate the economy. The evaluation focused on understanding multi-agency collaboration partnerships and supports that are the foundation for regional economic development models. b. Background Launched in 2011 and 2012 the JIAC Grants and the Advanced Manufacturing JIAC Grants AM-JIAC supported 30 self-identified regional innovation clusters each of the clusters focused on an industry sector with high-growth potential in each region. The AM-JIAC clusters targeted advanced manufacturing for transportation and aerospace to advanced materials such as carbon fiber composites optics and thermal control systems among others. The multiagency collaboration and regional innovation clusters were formed to expand the growth of existing and new clusters to 1 increase productivity and economic growth by accelerating product or process development and commercialization in key sectors and regions 2 support innovation and regional collaboration 3 train workers to enter high-skilled high-wage industries and 4 support entrepreneurship and small business growth. 4.W eblink to Reports.
