WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced three new funding opportunities that will make up to $377 million in grants available to states to strengthen the integrity and resilience of their unemployment insurance programs.

WASHINGTON – To support efforts to address Massachusetts’ continuing opioid crisis, the U.S. Department of Labor today announced an incremental award of $800,000 to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development to support employment and training services and disaster-relief jobs for workers in Bristol and Plymouth counties.

The 4-week moving average was 237,250, an increase of 7,500 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 250 from 229,500 to 229,750.

In the week ending May 27, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 232,000, an increase of 2,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised up by 1,000 from 229,000 to 230,000. The 4-week moving average was 229,500, a decrease of 2,500 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 250 from 231,750 to 232,000.

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the availability of up to $653 million in grants to modernize unemployment insurance information technology systems and to participate in pilots. Funded by the American Rescue Plan Act, the grants will help states modernize their technology, increase flexibility and performance, protect against fraud proactively and make claims processing more efficient.
