Town hall meetings in Casper and Riverton, Wyoming, on July 29 and 30 to assist nuclear energy workers to be hosted by US Labor Department

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Labor Department's Office of the Ombudsman for the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Program will host two town hall meetings in Wyoming: one on Tuesday, July 29, in Casper, and the other Wednesday, July 30, in Riverton, to notify current and former U.S. Department of Energy employees or their survivors who worked at DOE facilities, including in uranium mines and mills or as uranium ore transporters, about the benefits available to them under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act.

The goal of the town halls is to inform current and former nuclear weapons workers living in Wyoming about the program and to assist them with finding information about the compensation and medical benefits to which they may be entitled. Additionally, representatives will answer questions from those who have claims accepted under the EEOICPA and Section 5 of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act. Those interested in filing a claim or receiving more information should attend one of the town halls or contact the Office of the Ombudsman toll free at 1-877-662-8363.

The town halls will begin with a presentation from the Office of the Ombudsman, followed by a question-and-answer period. Following the meeting, attendees will be able to speak one-on-one to representatives from the Office of the Ombudsman and the U.S. Department of Labor. Representatives from the department's Office of Workers' Compensation Program's Denver Resource Center and Denver District Office will also be in attendance to receive new claims and answer specific claim questions.
