Statement by Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis on International Women's Day

WASHINGTON Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis today issued the following statement regarding International Women's Day:

"Today people all over the world will celebrate International Women's Day, honoring the power, strength and contributions of all women. Together, we not only recognize the economic, political and social achievements of women, but the struggle and sacrifice it took to get here, too.

"We also acknowledge the challenges that lie ahead for women in the workplace, at home and beyond. On the shoulders of countless extraordinary women, we continue to fight for our rightful place in society. From equal pay, to educational equity, to the rights that working women need to care for their families, we continue to raise our voices for equal opportunity in every pursuit and path.

"As the first Latina U.S. Secretary of Labor, I'm proud to stand with women everywhere in the world today. As we move forward, let us do so inspired by the progress we have made and by following the example of the brave women who came before us."
