U.S. Department of Labor Provides Compliance Assistance Resources to Secure Employee Benefits

WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Department of Labor's Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) hosts a variety of seminars across the country and webcasts in order to enhance understanding of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974.

EBSA's goal in developing these compliance assistance resources is to help employers understand their obligations, workers understand their rights, and for members of the public to generally enhance their understanding of the importance of saving for retirement. These tools also further the goals of the Department's recently announced Office of Compliance Initiatives (OCI), to encourage and facilitate compliance.

  • On February 28, 2019, as part of America Saves week, EBSA will host a webcast on retirement savings
  • On March 5, 2019, EBSA will host a Fiduciary Education seminar in San Diego, CA
  • On March 12-14, 2019, EBSA will host a Fiduciary Education webcast
  • On March 20-21, 2019, EBSA will host a series of Health Benefits Education Campaign seminars in Baton Rouge, LA

For more information about these events, visit dol.gov/agencies/ebsa/about-ebsa/our-activities/resource-center/seminars-and-webcasts.  EBSA's mission is to assure the security of the retirement, health and other workplace related benefits of America's workers and their families.  For more information, visit dol.gov/agencies/ebsa.

OCI is part of the Department of Labor's Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy, and fosters a compliance assistance culture within the Department designed to complement its ongoing enforcement efforts. This Office focuses on helping enforcement agencies more effectively use online resources to deliver information and compliance assistance to help the American people. In August 2018, OCI launched Worker.gov and Employer.gov to provide information about workers' rights and the responsibilities of job creators toward their workers.
