U.S. Department of Labor sponsors free webcast November 20 on federal and Texas laws about continuation of health benefits

Washington – The U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) and the Texas Department of Insurance will host a free, two-hour webcast on November 20 from 10 a.m. to noon (CST) to help employers and benefit professionals comply with the federal Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) and the Texas Specific Continuation of Coverage.

This third webcast in a series will feature speakers from EBSA, the Texas Department of Insurance and the Internal Revenue Service. Speakers will discuss the general guidelines as well as current issues under both federal COBRA and the Texas law. Participants can find an online toolkit of related guidance and publications as well as an archive of past health webcasts at EBSA’s Web site below. The seminars are part of EBSA’s health education campaign to help workers and employers, especially small businesses, understand their rights and obligations under various health benefit laws.
