U.S. Department of Labor sponsors free webcast series on federal and Texas health benefit laws in November

Washington – A free, two-hour webcast to help employers and pension professionals providers comply with federal and Texas state health laws will be hosted by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) and the Texas Department of Insurance on November 6 from 10 a.m. to noon (CST). Additional webcasts are scheduled for November 13 and 20 on new health laws and guidance.

This first webcast in the series will deal with fiduciary education for sponsors of health plans. The session will cover tips to avoid common problems, disclosures required by law and health claims procedures. Participants also can find an online toolkit of related guidance, publications and useful information at EBSA’s Web site below. The seminars are part of EBSA’s health education campaign to help workers and employers, especially small businesses, understand their rights and obligations under various health benefit laws.
