U.S. Department of Labor’s ERISA Advisory Council to hold November 2007 meetings

Washington – The Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans (also known as the ERISA Advisory Council) and its three working groups will meet November 6 and 7 at the U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Ave. NW, Room C-5515-3, in Washington, D.C.

On November 7, the full council will meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. EST to receive and approve reports of the working groups and to present a summary of those reports. For an afternoon session starting at 2 p.m. EST, the full council will relocate to Room S-2508. The afternoon session will include an update from the Labor Department’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA).

The working group meetings will be held on November 6, starting at 1 p.m. EST. The reports and recommendations of the Working Group on Financial Literacy, the Working Group on Participant Benefit Statements, and the Working Group on Fiduciary Responsibilities Updates and Revenue Sharing will be considered.

The ERISA Advisory Council consists of 15 members appointed to staggered three-year terms by the Secretary of Labor to provide advice on policies and regulations affecting employee benefit plans governed by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). Council members represent the general public, employers, employee organizations and the fields of insurance, corporate trust, investment management, investment counseling, accounting and actuarial counseling.
