An August 13 advisory from the National Skills Coalition
National Skills Coalition is excited to announce the launch of a Supportive Services Academy to assist state teams in advancing state policies that expand access to supportive services so that people with lower incomes can complete education and training programs. Applications for participation are open and are due November 1, 2019.
The cost of participating in skills training often goes beyond tuition or costs of a training course—there’s transportation, childcare, books and supplies, equipment, and more. These costs can present huge obstacles for many people with low-incomes, particularly those balancing the costs of training with family expenses, and too often federal human services programs are not enough. The goal of the Supportive Services Academy is to help alleviate some of this burden.
The Academy will officially launch in December 2019 and run until December 2020. To apply, please download the full application here and learn more at our skills blog.
