Federal Employees' Compensation Program
Requests for Accommodation
The Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs’ (OWCP) has long been committed to facilitating effective communication with claimants and employing agencies regarding decisions and other actions in each individual case. Consistent with its responsibilities under applicable Federal disability nondiscrimination laws, with its mission, and with the additional emphasis on the employment of individuals with disabilities as reflected in Executive Order 13548 (issued July 26, 2010), OWCP’s Division of Federal Employees’ Compensation (DFEC) issued FECA Bulletin 12-05, Handling Requests for Communication Assistance, Accommodations, and Modifications Under Federal Disability Nondiscrimination Law by Claimants and Others in the Federal Employees’ Compensation Act (FECA) Adjudicatory Process. The Bulletin outlines the process for handling requests for accommodation/communication assistance including for persons with visual or hearing impairment. Click HERE to review this bulletin.
DFEC also has dedicated telephone contact numbers for those in need of accommodations as outlined in FECA Bulletin 12-05, including those individuals whose disabilities limit their capacity to use voice telephones. Click HERE to access those dedicated phone numbers.
- Note - These phone numbers are only to be used for specific accommodation related requests consistent with FECA Bulletin 12-05. All other callers must contact the district offices via the established customer service lines.
