Resources for Federal Contractors Section 503 and VEVRAA

Accessible Technology Action Steps: A Guide for Employers is an interactive informative tool designed to provide employers a “roadmap” to ensure that the technology in their workplace is accessible to all employees and job applicants.

Disability Employment Tracker. The National Organization on Disability (NOD), the National Business and Disability Partnership, DiversityInc, and Sirota Consulting have a “Disability Employment Tracker.” This free tool provides companies with a confidential assessment of their disability and veteran employment practices in four areas.

Disability Equality Index (DEI). The US Business Leadership Network (USBLN) and the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) developed the Disability Equality Index (DEI) as a joint initiative. Developed by a diverse group of business leaders, policy experts, and disability advocates this benchmarking tool offers businesses an opportunity to receive an objective score, on a scale of zero to 100, on their disability inclusion policies and practices. It is an aspirational, educational, recognition tool that is intended to help companies identify opportunities for continued improvement and help build a company’s reputation as an employer of choice.

USBLN and AAPD will help companies improve their scores over time by working in partnership with employers to provide technical assistance and help identify ways to improve their scores. Their expressed goal is to empower organizations to achieve the highest possible score and to be recognized for their successes. A fee is charged to cover administrative costs.

Checklist for Compliance with Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 is an interactive informative tool designed by the Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy to help employers assess their compliance with Section 503’s affirmative action program (AAP) requirements (Word Version).
