OFCCP & ODEP Rehabilitation Act 50th Celebration
The U.S. Department of Labor Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (SWARM and MidAtlantic Regions) and the Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) will host an event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Rehabilitation Act signed into law by President Nixon on September 26, 1973. Its purpose is to protect the rights of individuals with disabilities and provide them with equal opportunities to live more independent and fulfilling lives. The Rehabilitation Act prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in various programs and activities that receive federal funding. OFCCP enforces Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act (Section 503), which requires contractors to comply with affirmative action requirements.
OFCCP and ODEP proudly invites the local community groups, state, and federal partners to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Rehabilitation Act “Then, Now & Future”. You will hear from OFCCP, ODEP, JAN, EARN, and PEAT on how to ensure a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible workplace. In addition, you will hear from federal contractors (PepsiCo, NFI Industries) covering their best practices for people with disabilities, you will also have an opportunity to ask questions and gain some valuable information in recruiting, hiring, and retaining individuals with disabilities.
Please join us for this joint endeavor as we celebrate 50 years of the Rehabilitation Act and look ahead to the next 50 years on September 14, 2023, 10:30 a.m.– 12:00 p.m. EST.
