A core goal of DOL’s modernization efforts is to help states identify opportunities to automate rote, non-discretionary, manual tasks, with the goal of helping them process claims in less time. 

Thoughtful automation can improve the UI experience without risking the destabilization of current systems. Technologies and automation that reduce the burdens on claimants and UI staff will create a brighter future for UI programs across the country.

Equitable Access Toolkit

The Unemployment Insurance Equitable Access Toolkit contains common equity recommendations, promising practices, and insights, represented visually as a different floor of an agency office building, compiled in one interactive document.

RPA Toolkit

The RPA Toolkit, which was informed by state Tiger Team engagement work, gives states actionable tips for incorporating automation into their current workflows. Several UI agencies are using RPA to reduce backlogs and process claims more efficiently, and our hope is that this toolkit will help other states adopt similar practices.
