Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation (DEEOIC)

The Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation (DEEOIC) conducts ongoing (2021-present) Quality Reviews (QR) and annual (2011-present) Accountability Reviews (ARs) of the claims adjudication work performed by the district office and Final Adjudication Branch staff and Medical Benefits Examiners. The function of the QRs and ARs is to allow the DEEOIC to objectively measure staff quality and compliance with established rules and procedures in deciding claims filed under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA). QRs and ARs assess different performance categories, including the application of program procedure, quality of evidence analysis, clarity of written narratives, and accuracy of mathematical calculations, and compliance with payment procedures. DEEOIC and the Office of Workers Compensation Program (OWCP) management use the results of the QRs and ARs to work towards continual improvement in program outcomes.
