Solicitor of Labor Jonathan Berry

Jonathan Berry serves as the Solicitor of Labor. Prior to his appointment by President Trump, Mr. Berry served in private practice as Managing Partner of Boyden Gray PLLC where he litigated, counseled, spoke, and wrote on labor and employment law and the regulatory process. A veteran of the Department of Labor, Mr. Berry previously served as the Acting Assistant Secretary for Policy and also served in the Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Policy. His work has focused on complex legal and policy issues at the intersection of government regulation, the workplace, and the rule of law.

Mr. Berry previously served as a law clerk to Judge Jerry E. Smith of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and to Associate Justice Samuel A. Alito, Jr., of the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Berry graduated with Distinction in the Major from Yale College and received his Juris Doctorate from Columbia University School of Law. His commentary has been published by the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and First Things.
