To announce the new premier conference for the Employment and Training Administration and for America¡¯s workforce investment professionals, Workforce Innovation 2002. The conference is scheduled for July 9-11, 2002 in Nashville, TN.

To inform states and local areas about the phase-out of AJB, scheduled for June 30, 2007, and the transition actions that the Employment and Training Administration (ETA) is conducting.

To announce a fourth ETA-sponsored national training session on federal financial and administrative requirements to be held in 2007.

Due to a high level of interest in the first three Financial and Administrative Forums, ETA is sponsoring a fourth session. The primary goal of this session is to provide in-depth guidance and technical support on ETA financial and administrative requirements. Topics for the forum include financial reporting, monitoring, procurement, indirect costs, salary and bonus limitations, audit requirements, and a host of other financial and administrative management topics. The forum will provide educational opportunities for state, local and discretionary grantees and enhance their understanding of the requirements of operating Federal grants. Fiscal and administrative staff working in ETA's formula and discretionary grant programs should attend. Interested program staff is also invited to attend.

To announce the availability of the Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration's (DOL/ETA) guide entitled,"How Youth Programs Manage Intake, Individual Services Strategies (ISS) and Case Files."

To announce the release of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2002 Labor Surplus Area (LSA) list. The LSA list is published on the following websites: www.doleta.gov and www.usworkforce.org. It will no longer be published in Area Trends. On December 31, 2001, the list was published in the Federal Register. Unfortunately, the publication contained errors including omission of the City of Miami, Florida; listed Port St. Lucie City, County of St. Lucie Florida in the wrong county and spelled Yuma Arizona as Luma. The FY 2002 list will be republished in the Federal Register, in the near future. The list included on the websites does not contain these errors.

To announce three national education and training sessions on performance reporting and management. These training sessions are intended to introduce and clarify the reporting changes contained in the Workforce Investment Streamlined Performance Reporting (WISPR) System, further enhance states’ ability to report against the common measures and provide a venue for discussing policy questions. Attendees will have the ability to raise issues with federal staff and learn what other states and local areas are doing to support integration by targeting multiple programs. The session will also deal with ways to reduce data validation issues in the workforce system by providing targeted training on common issues, and provide information, clarification, materials and tools to participants to support state and local training efforts.

To announce the UI National Tax Conference that will be held in San Diego, California, August 13 -16, 2007, to request agenda topics, and to encourage participation in the conference.
