Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP)

Homeland Security Presidential Directive 7 (HSPD-7) directs all federal Departments and Agencies to identify, prioritize, and provide a plan to protect their physical and cyber critical infrastructure.

In response to HSPD-7, the Department of Labor (DOL) created the CIP program which is coordinated by the Emergency Management Center (EMC) in conjunction with the Office of Chief Information Officer (OCIO) and the Security Center. The DOL CIP plan provides a systematic approach for protecting DOL's Critical Infrastructure (CI) and Key Resources (KR). The program establishes a departmental-wide standard for protecting DOL's physical and cyber critical infrastructure.
