WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the award of $90 million in grants to organizations in 44 states and Puerto Rico to provide training and career services and related support services, and work-based learning to help migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their dependents develop skills to pursue careers in agriculture or non-agriculture sectors.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced an initial $800,000 emergency grant award to help fund Georgia’s cleanup and recovery activities in 33 counties following Hurricane Debby. The grant will also enable the state to provide employment and training services to people in the affected communities.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced an initial award of $2.8 million to California in dislocated worker grant funding to support cleanup and recovery activities in eight counties in response to severe winter storms the state experienced between Jan. 31, 2024, and Feb. 9, 2024.

The storms caused river and urban flooding, mud and landslides, sinkhole formations, downed trees and damaged roadways, bridges and levee systems, as well as damage to public and private lands.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced an initial award of $800,000 in emergency dislocated worker grant funding to support cleanup and recovery activities in response to the South Fork and Salt forest fires that began in New Mexico’s Otero County on June 17, 2024. Spreading quickly, the fires have already devastated more than 25,000 acres of mountain forest land, and about 1,400 structures and 500 homes in Lincoln and Otero counties and on the Mescalero Tribe Reservation.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced an incremental award of more than $1.5 million to support employment and training services for transitioning military service members and their spouses at and around the U.S. Army’s Fort Bliss installation near El Paso, Texas.
