The Office of Internal Enforcement (OIE) administers the U.S. Department of Labor's (DOL) internal Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) program by counseling, facilitating ADR, investigating, and adjudicating complaints filed by DOL employees and applicants for DOL employment who allege discrimination because of race, color, national origin, religion, disability, genetic information, sex, age, and/or retaliation for engaging in protected Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) activity. OIE also provides training and technical assistance on EEO matters to DOL managers, supervisors, and employees. Additionally, OIE advises Departmental management on issues affecting EEO and develops and implements relevant Departmental policies and procedures.

How to File a Complaint with Internal Enforcement

In order to file a complaint, an aggrieved individual (a DOL employee or DOL job applicant) must contact an EEO Counselor within 45 calendar days of an alleged discriminatory action or, in the case of a personnel action, within 45 calendar days of the effective date of the action. An EEO Counselor will conduct an initial interview with the aggrieved individual, and begin fact-finding in an attempt to resolve the matter informally within 30 calendar days from the date of the initial contact.

Harassing Conduct

You may file a complaint with the Office of Human Resources (OHR), OASAM. Filing a complaint under the Department's Harassing Conduct Policy, however, is not the same thing as filing an EEO complaint with the Civil Rights Center in accordance with 29 C.F.R. 1614.

OHR cannot accept EEO complaints. If you wish to file an EEO complaint, contact a DOL EEO counselor or the Civil Rights Center by using the following link: National Office EEO Counseling and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Staff.
