US Labor Department cites Georgia counter manufacturer for exposing workers to hazardous levels of crystalline silica

ATLANTA – U.S. Department of Labor safety inspectors determined that Brazilian Stone Design LLC, a Powder Springs stone countertop manufacturer, exposed workers to respirable crystalline silica.

The department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited the employer, which fabricates and sells kitchen and bathroom countertops, with seven serious citations. The employer will pay $33,000 in penalties.

ORLANDO, FL – The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited two event production companies following an inspection concerning an October 2024 employee fatality.

Stage FX Inc. and James Thomas Productions LLC were cited with serious violations for allegedly failing to maintain structural stability during the erection of a stage and failing to provide proper employee training on the associated hazards.

US Department of Labor cites Bio-Lab Inc. after chemical fire in Conyers

ATLANTA – A U.S. Department of Labor investigation found that improperly stored hazardous chemicals were the cause of a fire at a Bio-Lab Inc. facility in Conyers. 

The department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration investigation learned that the incident originated at a company warehouse that stored various chemicals. OSHA cited Bio-Lab for four serious and two other-than-serious violations and proposed $61,473 in penalties.
