All covered employers are required to display and keep displayed a poster prepared by the U.S. Department of Labor summarizing the major provisions of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and telling employees how to file a complaint. The poster must be displayed in a conspicuous place where employees and applicants for employment can see it. A poster must be displayed at all locations even if there are no eligible employees.

A copy of the poster prepared by the Department (WH 1420) is available for your information or for posting in the workplace.

Poster last revised: April 2023 (the April 2016 and February 2013 versions still fulfill the posting requirement)

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is in the process of updating its “Know Your Rights” poster to address the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, which goes into effect on June 27, 2023.  For covered employers that purchase an all-in-one poster from third party vendors, you may wish to defer purchasing a new vendor-created poster until after the EEOC releases its updated poster in June 2023 and, in the interim, print and post the free version of the FLSA poster with PUMP Act information from this webpage.

Tips for printing the poster:

  • The file is only available in PDF format. In order to view and/or print PDF documents you must have a PDF viewer (e.g., Adobe Acrobat Reader) available on your computer.
  • Click on the link for the FMLA poster and wait for it to load into the viewer.
  • To print, click on the printer icon within Acrobat Reader. Do not use the browser's print feature.
