Katherine Eyster

Katherine is the Chief of Staff of the Wage and Hour Division. She joined the Department of Labor in April 2021, previously serving as acting Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor of WHD and as Senior Advisor for Private Sector Engagement in the Office of Public Engagement.

Prior to her role at the Department, Katherine served as the legislative director for a DC Councilmember and spent four years at the National Partnership for Women & Families, where she helped to strategically envision and execute cross-organizational projects and priorities related to workplace gender equity and economic justice, including FMLA utilization, paid leave, paid sick days, and pregnancy accommodations.

Before her work at the National Partnership, Katherine spent years working in nonprofit programming and policy in New Orleans, Louisiana and Washington, D.C. with a focus on women’s economic opportunity, reproductive health, and labor policy — including roles at the Institute of Women and Ethnic Studies, the Latin American Youth Center, and the White House Domestic Policy Council.

She holds a master's in public policy from the University of Michigan's Ford School of Public Policy and a bachelor’s in history from Wesleyan University. She lives in Northwest DC with her husband and two children.
