US Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division opens field office in St. George, Utah

ST. GEORGE, Utah -- The U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division has opened a field office in St. George to connect employees, employers, community organizations and other stakeholders with the resources and assistance needed to ensure compliance with federal wage and hour laws.

The office is located in the federal building at 196 E. Tabernacle St. (ZIP code 84770). The public can visit in person or reach the office by telephone at 435-628-8914.

“We are extremely pleased to announce the opening of another Wage and Hour Division office in Utah,” said Cynthia Watson, regional administrator of the division in the Southwest. “This new office will be a great resource for the people of southern Utah, as it will serve as a one-stop shop for employers, employees and everyone else who needs compliance assistance and information concerning the federal labor laws we enforce.”

The St. George Field Office has oversight for agency enforcement throughout southern Utah, including enforcement on federal construction and service contracts. It is an extension of the Salt Lake City District Office in Utah, located at 60 E. South Temple St., Suite 575 (ZIP code 84111); telephone 801-524-5706.

To reach areas of the country that had been underserved, the division opened 13 new offices in fiscal year 2011 and upgraded several others across the country, making services more accessible to thousands of workers and employers in outlying areas.

The Wage and Hour Division enforces the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Davis-Bacon Act, the Service Contract Act, and the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act, among other federal laws. For more information about these laws or to file a complaint, call the St. George office, the Salt Lake City office or the division’s toll-free helpline at 866-4US-WAGE (487-9243).
