US Labor Department extends building and heavy construction wage survey in Maine
PHILADELPHIA -- The U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division announced today that it would extend the completion date to April 30, 2015, for an ongoing building and heavy construction wage survey sent to contractors and others. The survey will collect data on wages paid to laborers and mechanics on building and heavy construction projects in Maine between April 1, 2013, and March 31, 2014.
Federally financed or assisted construction projects subject to the Davis-Bacon and Related Acts must contain a prevailing wage determination. The wage determination is reached by surveying ongoing or recently completed construction projects within a geographic area.
“Wages paid on federally funded jobs subject to the DBA should reflect wages and fringe benefits paid to construction workers in the county where the work was performed,” said Mark Watson, regional administrator for the division’s Northeast region. “Limited participation leads to wage rates that do not reflect actual paid wages. We encourage all contractors and interested parties to complete and submit the survey.”
Notification letters and data collection forms, or WD-10s, are being sent to contractors and interested parties. Survey responses must be postmarked by April 30, 2015. To complete the survey online, visit http://www.dol.gov/whd/programs/dbra/wd10/index.htm. Online surveys are due by midnight on April 30, 2015.
For questions about the survey or the WD-10 form, or to be added to the division’s mailing list, contact Ellen Hill at 267-687-4031.
