Town Hall Meetings in South Carolina! – On Tuesday, August 19, 2014 and Wednesday, August 20, 2014, in North Augusta, South Carolina, DEEOIC hosted four (4) Town Hall Meetings (THMs) to provide information about medical benefits provided under the EEOICPA. At each THM an overview of the program was given by an official from the Jacksonville district office and representatives from the National Office Medical Unit presented specific information regarding medical benefits and home healthcare benefits provided under the EEOICPA. A Traveling Resource Center was held on August 20, 2014, from 9 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 to 4:00 pm and staff from the Savannah resource center provided assistance to claimants who sought status updates on existing claims. The Ombudsman’s Office was also present to provide assistance to claimants. These events were well attended, with over 250 claimants, 9 doctors, and 29 providers in attendance. The Augusta Chronicle newspaper provided extensive news coverage for these events.
