Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation (DEEOIC)
Outreach Event: Middle Island, New York
You are invited to an outreach event in Middle Island, NY, on Thursday, May 2, 2019, to learn about the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA). Representatives from the Department of Labor (DOL), Department of Energy (DOE), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and the Office of the Ombudsman for DOL will be presenting information on their roles in the Program.
The EEOICPA provides lump-sum compensation and medical benefits to current and former workers whose illness is a result of working at Brookhaven National Laboratory located in Upton, NY, or any facility involved in nuclear weapons production. Covered illnesses include, but are not limited to, radiation-induced cancer, chronic beryllium disease, beryllium sensitivity, chronic silicosis, or an illness due to exposure to toxic substances. Certain survivors of eligible employees may also be entitled to compensation.
The EEOICPA is administered by the Department of Labor’s Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs, Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation (DEEOIC).
