Collection of Summary Pay Data
Beginning with the 2017 reporting cycle, the Employer Information Report (EEO–1) will collect pay data from employers, including federal contractors, with 100 or more employees. This pay data collection is the result of a joint effort by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Historically, OFCCP and EEOC have collected employment information by job category, sex, and race or ethnicity on the EEO–1 Report. After separately considering methods to collect pay data from employers, OFCCP and EEOC joined together in 2016, revising the EEO–1 Report to include summary pay data. This collaboration eliminated the potential for duplicative reporting, reduced employer burden, and increased efficiency by relying on the existing framework for EEO–1 Reports.
To give employers time to transition to the revised EEO–1 Report, the EEO-1 deadline for the 2017 report will be March 31, 2018.
