The mission of the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) is to enforce, for the benefit of job seekers and wage earners, the contractual promise of equal employment opportunity and affirmative action required of those who do business with the federal government. OFCCP enforces Executive Order 11246 (EO 11246), Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 503), and the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974 (VEVRAA). These laws, as amended, make it illegal for contractors and subcontractors doing business with the federal government to discriminate in employment because of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran. In addition, contractors and subcontractors are prohibited from discriminating against applicants or employees because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their compensation or that of others, subject to certain limitations.
Over $44 million – the dollar amount of the monetary relief that OFCCP obtained for employees and job seekers who were discriminated against, January 2017 through December 2018. The highest for any two-year period in OFCCP's history.
Over 37,000 – the number of employees and job seekers for whom OFCCP obtained financial relief, January 2017 through December 2018.
Over 2,900 – the number of job opportunities and salary adjustments for individuals who had suffered discrimination, January 2017 through December 2018.
