May 24, 2010 National Emergency Grant for Montana
Dear Montana Delegation:
Here is information about a National Emergency Grant (NEG) that is being awarded to your state to assist around 450 workers affected by layoffs at Plum Creek Timber Co. Inc. and Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. in western Montana.
Description of NEG
- The U.S. Department of Labor is awarding $1.8 million to the Montana Department of Labor and Industry. These services include dependent care and transportation assistance, which will help them pursue training opportunities and are not available through the TAA program. Any workers not eligible for TAA will have access to the full array of training and employment-related services under this grant.
- The geographic areas covered by this funding are: The counties of Flathead, Lake, Lincoln, Mineral, Missoula, Ravalli, and Sanders
- Project Operator: Statewide Workforce Programs and Oversight Bureau
