We Want to Hear from You at the United State of Women
CALL FOR ENTRIES:
Join the United States of Women by adding your voice to our upcoming video. Send in a short clip with your story as it relates to the state of women in the workplace.
Talk to us about anything – your passion, your views about the state of women in the workplace, how far we have come, where do we need to go, and how will we get there.
We want to make sure your voice is heard – this is your chance!
The White House is putting on a ‘United State of Women’ summit with the Department of Labor and many other partners. The summit is focused on the amazing work that has been achieved over the last few decades, with a focus on how we‘re going to take action moving forward. The summit will cover issues ranging from paid leave to minimum wage to equal pay and worker voice.
We want to get the conversation going early, and incorporate real American voices into a video presented during the summit.
We encourage your participation!
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
- All answers should be shorter than 30 seconds.
- All submissions should be uploaded via YouTube, Vimeo, or similar service.
- All submissions must be received by 11:59 p.m. EST on June 1st, 2016.
FILMING INSTRUCTIONS:
For uniformity, make sure all of the interviews are framed from the shoulders up, to the left or right of center, and speak Direct-To-Camera.
Leave a little headroom, like in this example. Also, look at the lighting and see if you can get, at least, some lighting on their face and not all from behind (like an open window)

It is encouraged be in a natural environment and attire, at your workplace or home. Be mindful of the audio, listen to make sure there aren’t too many loud noises or conversation. Have the microphone as close as possible to the speaker and pointed at the subject.
Be mindful of your surroundings. Find a quiet spot, that is also visually interesting.
