Deputy Secretary Lu, who grew up in Maryland, spoke about the Department of Labor's role in helping people of all ages acquire the skills that employers are looking for and the skills that a 21st century economy demands.
Standing before a group of Bladensburg High School students, President Obama announces the winners of Youth CareerConnect grants totaling $107 million.
During his remarks, President Obama highlighted how Bladensburg High School has already been integrating classroom learning with ready-to-work skills and preparing students to move directly into the in-demand jobs of the future work that will be expanded through the $7 million Youth CareerConnect grant to Prince George's County.
