Secretary Perez joins President Obama for an event on the minimum wage at Costco in Maryland.
"They (Costco) treat their employees well - with a good salary, benefits and opportunity for advancement," said Secretary Perez at Costco in Lanham, Md.
"Not just employees but everyone who's involved in your supply chain should be treated fairly," said Secretary Perez.
Teressa Allen introduces President Obama at the minimum wage event at Costco. Teressa has worked at Costco for over 27 years. Her first position with the company was serving hotdogs and she now is the Assistant General Manager of the store.
President Obama addresses Costco workers about the importance of increasing the minimum wage to $10.10 per hour. The current hourly wage at Costco is more than $20, which doesn't include overtime or benefits.
President Obama tells audience, "if you work hard, you should be able to pay your rent, buy your groceries, look after your kids. If you put in a hard day's work, you deserve decent pay for it. That's a principle everybody understands, everybody believes."
Secretary Perez visits with Dee Williams following President Obama's speech. Dee has worked at Costco for 16 years.
