The company worked with Virginia's Community College Workforce Alliance, the Virginia Department of Industry and Labor, and area high schools to develop a customized workforce solution that fits with its corporate culture of high-performing and engaged employees. The Community College Workforce Alliance helps Rolls-Royce leverage funding to offset the cost of tuition and books for first-year apprentices. The CNC Machinist Apprenticeship program has provided Rolls-Royce with a pool of well-trained CNC operators, a simplified recruitment process, apprentice retention rates of 100%, and cross-training methods that support the company's high-performance culture.

The growing need for a skilled and diverse workforce, and the role of apprenticeship in meeting those needs, were major topics of discussion at the Wireless Infrastructure Show and Supplier Diversity Summit (WIS) in Orlando, FL on May 22-25, where JFF hosted an Accelerator event for industry attendees. Within days of the event, several companies submitted employer acceptance agreements committing to sponsor new apprentices, and several other companies expressed serious interest.
