The Department of Labor's Office of the Chief Information Officer IT transformation journey began with a vision to create a DOL IT Platform.

The purpose of the IT Platform is to achieve the organizational goals of providing an enterprise-wide solution to meet agency business needs such as public facing customer portals, case and service management, data sharing and analytics, and content management. The IT Platform offers a secure, cloud-based environment; enhances productivity, and assists project teams with best practices and industry standards for success.

There are four core capabilities:

  1. Electronic Intake - enables internal and external DOL stakeholders to securely and electronically submit information to the DOL. The capability includes user interfaces to deliver, receive, convert, and store the digital data to better support the Department's mission.
  2. Data Management - a single source of strategic and tactical DOL mission information leveraging data governance principles for greater accuracy. This data is used to develop analytics dashboards for strategic decision making and reporting.
  3. Business Workflow Management – enhance cross functional team collaboration, provide transparency, and streamline work processes across DOL agencies.
  4. Business Intelligence & Publishing – help DOL agencies make data driven decisions, meet organizational goals, and respond to congressional requirements.
