The Office of Worker Safety, Health and Environment (OWSHE) provides leadership, policy guidance, technical advice, and overall administration and management of the U.S. Department of Labor's (DOL) internal safety, occupational health, and workers' compensation programs. In addition, OWSHE supports DOL sustainability efforts, environmental compliance, energy conservation and mitigation initiatives, and our national climate action plan. The office strives to ensure safe and healthful DOL workplaces through the timely identification of occupational safety and health hazards and partners with agencies to implement recommended abatement actions and preventative measures. OWSHE provides outreach and education to DOL employees, management, and union representatives, and participates in DOL's Departmental and National Office Safety and Health Committees and the Regional Safety and Health Oversight Board. OWSHE administers the Department's Hazard Reporting application that enables employees to report hazards and unsafe or unhealthful conditions and maintains, for DOL employee claims, the Employees' Compensation Operations & Management Portal (ECOMP) used to file OSHA 301 Injury and Incident Reports and file workers' compensation claims with the Office of Workers' Compensation Programs (OWCP).
