Karen Torre

 

Karen Torre was named Chief of the Division of Statutory Programs (DSP) in 2017. The DSP chief provides leadership and direction with regard to issuing determinations to the Federal Transit Administration whether fair and equitable arrangements protecting mass transit employees are in place, thereby permitting the release of federal transit grant funds, as well as developing policy with regard to transit employee protections. Karen joined the Department’s Solicitor Office in 2007, working for the Arlington Regional Office and, later, the Civil Rights and Labor-Management Division. While in CRLM, she primarily worked on LMRDA and Federal Transit Act (13(c)) matters for OLMS. From February 2014 to June 2015, Karen served as the Acting Chief of OLMS’ Division of Statutory Programs. In June 2015, Karen officially joined OLMS as an investigator in the Division of Enforcement. Prior to her federal service, Karen practiced labor and employment law in North Carolina and Louisiana.
