BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA
1OOth ANNIVERSARY OF THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF LABOR
WHEREAS, The United States Department of Labor (USDOL) is committed to fostering investment, jobs, and the integrity of American labor for generations to come; and
WHEREAS, Since 1913, the USDOL has worked in conjunction with the State of Georgia, and all states across the country, to ensure fair work practices that promote the safety, health, and well ness of wage earners, job seekers, and retirees; and
WHEREAS, The USDOL has evolved to meet the changing needs of a changing workforce by partnering with employers, community organizations, and institutions of higher learning to improve job training, provide lifelong learning opportunities, and advance efforts for profitable employment; and
WHEREAS, Through years of training initiatives and working with companies around the nation, the USDOL has promoted veteran-hiring practices to encourage and ensure that returning and deactivated service members are given the necessary tools for continued success. There is no higher calling than to give back to those who have already given so much; and
WHEREAS, Georgia enjoys a great working relationship with the United States Department of Labor supporting the health and well- being of our state's skilled workforce. Through further cooperation and service, the USDOL will continue to lead the future in our nation's safety efforts in the workplace; now
THEREFORE, I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby recognize March 4, 2013, as the celebration of 100 years of the United States Department of Labor.
