Free to Choose: A Personal Statement

Author: Milton Friedman

Year Published: 1980

What Others are Saying:

  • The book explores human psychology and group organization. He describes very convincingly the optimum conditions for the human being to flourish individually and as a result develops and raises the standard of living for all in the society. Freedom of choice is a powerful force which empowers the individual and benefits society at large, much akin to Adam Smith's "Invisible Hand" that shapes our marketplaces. Friedman also describes how government intervention in free markets can be a destructive force.
  • This book is a classic about economics in America. If we're talking about books that 'shaped' America, this book can't be left off the list.
